Hamid Taheri , M.D.
Dr. Taheri received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from University of Houston with honors in 1989. He attended medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio and received his Medical Degree in 1993. He then moved to Washington D.C. and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the George Washington University where he received the resident of the year award in 1996. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at the George Washington University in 1999. Dr. Taheri also completed a fellowship in Cardiac MRI at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. His research on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy received the Clinical Sciences Research Award. Dr. Taheri completed Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. During this fellowship, he received comprehensive training in complex endovascular coronary interventions.
Dr. Taheri moved to Virginia in 2000 and is one of the founding members of the Virginia Cardiovascular Associates. He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the George Washington University and is involved with teaching residents and fellows.
He is currently the Medical director of Cardiac Cathaterization Laboratory at the Prince William Hospital. He is a member of several committees at INOVA Fairfax and Prince William Hospital to improve and oversee cardiac performance. He is the director of research at Virginia Cardiovascular Associates and serves as principal investigator for several large clinical trials.
Dr. Taheri is the former president of the Prince William County Medical Society and serves as a delegate to the Medical Society of Virginia. He is a fellow of American College of Cardiology as well as Society of Coronary Angiography and Intervention. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Desease and Interventional Cardiology.
His special interests include treatment of Coronary Artery Disease, cardiac imaging, endovascular coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. He has consistantly been recognized as one of the top cardiologist in the area by the Washingtonian magazine as well as Northern Virginia magazine.
