Debbie Dugan, NP
Originally from North Lake Tahoe, California, Debbie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at San Diego State University in 1991. She then practiced as a clinical nurse for nearly 10 years before returning to San Diego State University to receive her Master’s of Science degree with emphasis on Advanced Practice Nursing as an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Critical Care. Debbie was recognized by the Nursing Honor Society Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society for high academic achievement. She was also recognized with an excellence in clinical practice award during graduate school.. Debbie earned her National Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2002. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. After becoming an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Debbie continued to train and specialize in Cardiology at Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.
Prior to joining Virginia Cardiovascular Associates, Debbie worked at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute at Inova Fairfax Hospital as part of the Nurse Practitioner Cardiac Service. In addition, to being an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Debbie is a Healing Touch Practitioner. She has a strong interest in integrative and preventive medicine and often incorporates physical activity, proper diet and stress reduction in her medical practice.
Debbie’s hobbies include reading, listening to music, traveling, skiing, running, exercising, yoga, outdoor adventures/activities and sporting events. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her German Shepherd.
